Specifications
An eye-catching black Damascus SG2/R2 gyuto, handcrafted by master blacksmith Takeshi Saji in Echizen, Japan. SG2 is a PM stainless steel highly valued for its superior edge retention—an ideal feature for professional chefs. Its corrosion resistance further enhances its appeal as a low-maintenance, high-performance chef’s knife.
The blade showcases a beautifully etched Damascus finish, with intricate layered contrasts. Paired with an elegant desert ironwood handle, this knife is both functional and visually stunning. Designed for exceptional cutting performance, it’s thin behind the edge while maintaining durability. This knife comes complete with a kiri box.
Takeshi Saji (born 1948) is one of Japan’s most esteemed blacksmiths and a founding member of Takefu Knife Village. In 1992, he was awarded the prestigious title of "Traditional Master Craftsman," a recognition reserved for Japan’s finest artisans.
Known for producing high-end hunting knives, Saji-san has exported his work internationally. His expertise in Western-style handles, often crafted from hand-selected wood or animal horn, has made him a leading figure in the industry. Many prominent blacksmiths, including Yu Kurosaki, refined their skills under his mentorship.
