Nao Yamamoto

Born in 1979, Nao Yamamoto is a master blacksmith from Takefu, Japan. He began his apprenticeship at Asai Hamono in 1998, gaining extensive knowledge and skill in the art of knife-making. In 1999, he worked at Kamotou Hamono alongside Shiro Kamo, further honing his craft. Yamamoto founded his own company, Yamamoto Uchi Hamono, in 2013, where he continued to produce high-quality knives. By 2019, his expertise and dedication to traditional craftsmanship were recognized with the prestigious Dento Kougeishi (Traditional Craftsmen) certification. Yamamoto-san is also the blacksmith behind the Akifusa AS line.
