Collection: Yoshimi Kato

Yoshimi Kato is the third-generation blacksmith at Kato Knife Manufacturing, established in 1948 in Takefu, Echizen—one of Japan's historic blade-making centers with 700 years of forging tradition. He began crafting Japanese kitchen knives in 2012 under his father Hiroshi, who received the Order of the Sacred Treasure in 1987 and was certified as a Traditional Craftsman in 2008. Yoshimi assumed leadership in 2018, overseeing every stage of knife production in-house. His forged blades embody the craftsmanship of Echizen Uchi Hamono, designated a Traditional Craft by Japan's Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry.
