Takayuki Iwai

Master blacksmith Takayuki Iwai from Echizen received the prestigious Dentoukougeishi (Traditional Craftsman) certification from Japan's Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Industry in 1994. His son, Takeshi Iwai, achieved the same honor in 2006, marking the first time two generations from the same family received this recognition in Japanese knife-making.

The Iwai family represents exceptional craftsmanship in traditional Japanese blade forging, continuing generations of expertise in Echizen's renowned knife-making district.
