Specifications

The Masuda Kurozome Damascus Shirogami #2 Kiridashi is a handcrafted Japanese tool made by blacksmith Yoshihide Masuda in Sanjo, Japan. A kiridashi is a traditional Japanese utility knife with a single bevel blade, primarily used for woodworking, carving, and intricate cutting tasks. This particular piece showcases a stunning kurozome damascus pattern, highlighting both aesthetic beauty and exceptional craftsmanship.

Yoshihide Masuda, born in 1976, is the third-generation owner of Masuda Hamono, a knife-making workshop established in the late 1940s. Since joining the family business in 2017, he has worked alongside his father, Ken Masuda, a designated Traditional Craftsman in Niigata Prefecture. While specializing in kiridashi knives, Yoshihide has also broadened his expertise in crafting tools for farming and woodworking. In 2024, he introduced a select line of kitchen knives featuring beautifully twisted damascus patterns, showcasing his mastery of traditional Japanese blacksmithing techniques.

FAQ

Why is the blade length different from the displayed size? The size in the product title is a nominal reference used by knife makers. The actual blade can be slightly longer or shorter due to handcrafting and traditional sizing. Each product page lists the exact measured length.

When will out-of-stock items be restocked? We carry limited, rotating stock. Once something sells out, we don't necessarily reorder it right away. It could be months before that item comes back, if at all. We bring in new knives regularly, but they're not always the same ones. Our newsletter is the best way to stay updated on new arrivals.

What payment methods do you accept? Visa, Mastercard, Amex, PayPal, Apple Pay, Google Pay, and Shop Pay. No cash on delivery.
