Hideo Kitaoka is a third-generation master blacksmith and the current owner of Kitaoka Hamono, which was founded in 1868. The company is based in Echizen's Takefu Knife Village, a region with a deep-rooted history in knife-making. With over 50 years of experience, Kitaoka-san carries on the family legacy by crafting exquisite traditional single-bevel knives. Preserving the essence of traditional craftsmanship is of utmost importance to him, and he firmly believes that this can only be achieved through hands-on experience and a lifelong commitment to honing his skills and knowledge.
