This semi-stainless steel contains 12% chromium, just shy of the 13% needed for full stainless classification. SLD steel provides good edge retention and reasonable toughness. The blade features a combination of tsuchime (hammered) and nashiji (pear skin) finishes, creating a distinctive textured appearance.
