Specifications

Takeshi Saji, an esteemed Echizen master blacksmith, has forged this petty knife using Aogami #2 steel. The blade features a striking colored Damascus finish that extends seamlessly to the grind, paired with a beautiful piece of desert ironwood. Created by alternating layers of rust-resistant stainless steel, brass, and copper, the stunning Damascus pattern enhances both aesthetics and durability. This knife is a superb cutter—thin behind the edge without feeling fragile. These batches are notably thinner than older ones, making them excellent performers in the kitchen.

Takeshi Saji (born 1948) is one of Japan’s most esteemed master blacksmiths and a founding member of Takefu Knife Village. In 1992, he was awarded the prestigious title of "Traditional Master Craftsman," a distinction reserved for the finest artisans in Japan.

Renowned for producing high-end hunting knives, Saji-san has sold his creations both in Japan and internationally. His expertise in Western-style handles—often crafted from hand-selected wood or animal horn—has made him a leading figure in the industry. Many esteemed blacksmiths, including Yu Kurosaki, honed their skills under his guidance.
