Specifications
The Nigara tsuchime SG2 kiritsuke petty 150mm is a handcrafted Japanese utility knife forged in Hirosaki, Aomori. This stainless steel petty features an SG2 powdered steel core in sanmai construction with stainless cladding and a tsuchime (hammered) finish. SG2 is a powder metallurgy steel known for its exceptional edge retention. Heat treated to approximately 63 HRC. The blade measures 140mm with 31.3mm height. This kiritsuke petty handles precision work like peeling, trimming, and slicing small ingredients, with the angled tip providing access for detailed cuts. The full stainless construction makes it easy to maintain. The western-style resin handle features mosaic pins for both comfort and aesthetic appeal.
About the forge: Nigara Hamono has preserved the art of Japanese swordsmithing for 350 years across eight generations, originating as sword makers for the Tsugaru clan. Their legendary fifth-generation blacksmith, Kunitoshi Nigara, is celebrated as a national treasure. Eighth-generation blacksmith Tsuyoshi Yoshizawa now evolves family traditions, focusing on innovative kitchen cutlery while upholding a legacy of exceptional craftsmanship.

Why is the blade length different from the displayed size? The size in the product title is a nominal reference used by knife makers. The actual blade can be slightly longer or shorter due to handcrafting and traditional sizing. Each product page lists the exact measured length.
When will out-of-stock items be restocked? We carry limited, rotating stock. Once something sells out, we don't necessarily reorder it right away. It could be months before that item comes back, if at all. We bring in new knives regularly, but they're not always the same ones. Our newsletter is the best way to stay updated on new arrivals.
