Specifications

The Higonokami Blue #2 folding knife is a premium Japanese pocket knife that reflects traditional craftsmanship and reliable everyday performance. Its core steel of Aogami #2 is known for excellent edge retention and the ability to take a razor-sharp edge, making it a practical tool for users who appreciate high-performance carbon steel. The brass handle adds durability and develops a natural patina over time, giving the knife a timeless, well-used character that many collectors and enthusiasts enjoy.

The name “Higonokami” carries historical significance and is protected by the Miki Custom Knife Guild, based in Miki City near Osaka. The guild oversees which makers are permitted to use the name, ensuring that the tradition and standards associated with Higonokami knives are preserved. Today, the Nagao Kanekoma Factory is the only manufacturer officially authorized to use the name exclusively. Under the guidance of blacksmith Mitsuo Nagao, the factory continues to produce these knives using methods that honor the original design and spirit of the craft.

This large-size version offers a longer blade for added versatility while remaining compact enough for everyday carry. The simple friction-folder mechanism keeps the design true to its roots, and the ambidextrous operation makes it accessible for all users. With its combination of traditional materials, functional design, and historical authenticity, this Higonokami is both a practical tool and a meaningful piece of Japanese knife culture.
